Grant Moore Named A PGCBL Player of The Week
NIAGARA FALLS, NY - The Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League has named American’s outfielder Grant Moore as one of their Players of the Week in the first time the honors have been awarded this season. He joins West Division pitcher Luc Rising from Batavia, as well as batter and pitcher Brandon McCraine and Derek Duval, both from the East Division’s Amsterdam Mohawks. Moore’s nomination can be heavily credited to two skills he has shown so far, his ability to get on base, and his ability to steal extra bases.
In 19 plate appearances so far, Moore has turned in eight hits and four walks, giving him a .632 on-base percentage, which ranks 4th in the league. His .533 batting average additionally ranks 3rd best in the PGCBL. The Mount Vernon Nazarene University product has two hits in all four games played this season. Moore has additionally batted in three runs. He has had this production at the plate while striking out only one time.
While Moore’s batting prowess has been elite, his baserunning ability is where he has truly shined. Moore is tied for the league-lead in stolen bases with eight. The other player he shares the tie with, Lewis Rodriguez from the Saugerties Stallions, has played two more games than Moore. The Americans’ outfielder has a perfect stolen base record so far, having not been caught stealing a single time.
