Americans Drop Seventh in a Row, Fall Again to Ironbacks After Losing Lead in Sixth
NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — For the second straight night, the Niagara Falls Americans fell to the
Niagara Ironbacks after holding a lead into the sixth inning, losing 9-4 Tuesday at Sal Maglie
Stadium.
After three scoreless innings, Adam Weiss ripped a two-out triple down the right-field line. The
next batter, Ryotaro Munakata, reached first on an errant throw, scoring Weiss from third. The
run gave the Americans a 1-0 lead.
Jacoby Chambers made his first start of the season for the Americans, tossing five scoreless
frames, and allowing just three hits, with two walks and five strikeouts.
Xander Clark came on in relief in the sixth and walked five batters in the inning. The Ironbacks
scored six runs on one hit and one error, left the bases loaded, and took a 6-1 lead.
In the bottom of the frame, Matthew Ganschow led off with an infield single and stole second.
Dominick Zangardi followed with a single, putting runners at the corners with no outs. Adam
Weiss then grounded into a double play, bringing home Ganschow and cutting the deficit to 6-2.
The Ironbacks extended their lead in the seventh, scoring two more runs on two hits to make it 8-
2, while leaving the bases loaded once again.
In his first appearance of the season, Xander Clark pitched two innings, surrendering eight runs
(seven earned) on three hits with seven walks and two strikeouts. He was charged with the loss.
The Americans loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the seventh but managed to push
across only two more runs, narrowing the gap to 8-4.
Niagara plated one more run in the eighth on one hit and two errors, increasing its lead to 9-4.
Dominick Zangardi fired two innings after Clark was pulled from the game, allowing one
unearned run on two hits with two walks. It was Zangardi’s fourth appearance of the year.
David Harris finished 3-for-4 with one RBI and two stolen bases. Harris has now recorded a hit
in seven consecutive games and reached base safely in twelve straight.
Niagara Falls committed three errors in the game and has now made 10 errors in its last five
contests.
The Americans dropped to 9-19 following the loss, while the Ironbacks improved to 13-14-1.
The Ironbacks now lead the season series, four games to three.

For a third consecutive day, the Americans will battle the Niagara Ironbacks. First pitch is
scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at George Taylor Field on Wednesday.
Niagara Falls will return home on Saturday, July 11, to host the Olean Oilers for a 6:30 p.m. first
pitch at Sal Maglie Stadium. Every fan in attendance will receive a free Niagara Falls Americans
