Aidan Klimtzak Named A PGCBL Player of The Week
NIAGARA FALLS, NY - The Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League has named American’s pitcher Aiden Klimtzak as one of their Players of the Week for week five of the season. He joins West Division infielder Carter Shin from Niagara-Canada, as well as East Division batter Justin Ford and pitcher Payton Hochhalter. Ford plays for the Boonville Lumberjacks, while Hochhalter plays for the Saugerties Stallions. Klimtzak pitched a phenomenal game against the Ironbacks on July 6th, nearly pitching a no-hitter in the doubleheader-shortened seven inning game.
Pitching all 7.0 innings in game two of a doubleheader, Klimtzak finished with just one hit and two walks allowed, striking out four of his 24 batters faced. While a walk in the 1st inning ended his bid at a perfect game early, Klimtzak held the opportunity for a no hitter when entering the 7th inning before a leadoff single ended the chances. Klimtzak threw a total of 81 pitches in the game, with the Americans winning by a score of 1-0. The complete game shutout gave Klimtzak his second win of the season on his first start, and just third appearance.
The stellar performance moved Klimtzak's season-long totals to 9.2 innings pitched, and just one earned run, leading to a 0.93 ERA. This ERA ranks second on the Americans active roster among pitchers with 5.0+ innings pitcher, and puts Klimtzak among just eight pitchers in the entire PGCBL to have a sub-1.00 ERA with 9.0+ innings pitched. Klimtzak has allowed just two hits so far this season, leading to a batting average allowed of just .069, which ranks 3rd in the league.
